Farewell in Beijing ...

Today, I suddenly received a phone call ....

Other side: Moz. Customer escalated the case, I can't handle the pressure anymore ... you will have to go to Beijing.
Moz: Er ... Ok. But what about all this talk from you about I can't go because it's too close to my last day, etc?
Other side: Customer said they liked you. They want you to do one last project with them.
Moz: You sure you're not making this up to cheer me up, right?
Other side: Cheering you up is the last thing I wanna do now. I wanna eat your babies.
Moz: OK. But not sure if I can get ticket at the last minute or not leh ...
Other side: Try. If you can't make it and customer fry me again in the pressure cooker, you'll wish you were eaten immediately after birth. I assure you.
Moz: ........
*Click* .... Line went dead.

So I picked up the phone and called the customer ...

Customer: Hehe Moz. We knew you handled the project so well you didn't need to come to Beijing one ....
Moz: ???
Customer: But we want to give you a farewell lah ... let you have a good time mah.
Moz: ???
Customer: Don't worry, we just want to send you off properly ...
Moz: *faints dramatically* (yeah, just like the Speaking Banana)

OK. The conversation with the 'Other side' was condensed, summarized and probably had some little bit of spice added. The eating babies part of the dialogue definately didn't transpire. However, the message from 'Other side' was the same.

I'm going to China. Tomorrow. On 12 hours notice. I'm glad my excellent office administrator managed to book the flight and hotel for me on an extremely short notice. Thanks a bundle, Nat.

So that's it folks - I'm packing my bag and heading to Beijing. Blogging will be dependant on availability of Internet access, lack of tourist attractions and utter lack of distracting activities.

And I'm entertaining requests for souvenirs to those who know me personally. Drop an email to you-know-where.

infectioner: I'm not sure if you're right, but what's certain is I can't access either blogspot or wordpress. I guess I simply have to wait till I get home before I can blog anything.

cheng sim: i was surprisingly good at mandarin. so proficient, i got around a whole day on my own without having to say i don't understand or whatever in english. =)

accent is thick, but they take great effort to understand you, which is great too.

i've got you a souvenir. now, how do i pass that to you?
